Managing Editor
For the relaunch of Departures, a magazine about exceptional places, people, and things for American Express Platinum Card® and Centurion® Members, I first worked to refine the heritage publication’s new brand voice, including refreshing its brand story and taglines, establishing its new editorial strategy, and helping to set up its branded content studio. I then moved to the editorial side of the publication and became its managing editor.
In addition to overseeing its quarterly print publications, I managed the team that created its daily website, weekly newsletter, and special-edition print publication designed exclusively for American Express Centurion® Members: Departures Beyond. My duties spanned editorial planning, article commissioning, editing, final proofing, and print production.
We also created branded editorial content for advertising partners, ranging from sponsored newsletters to full-length features.

Our journey began in 1984, when Departures magazine printed its first issue. The original publication celebrated a far-flung yet increasingly connected world. It provided American Express Platinum Card® and Centurion® Members with an armchair passport to novel places, people, and ideas.
In each issue, we invited you to explore the globe—to discover beautiful objects, inspiring destinations, and influential creatives. We introduced you to visionaries, uncommon sights, and fresh style and design finds.
After all, a departure marks both a beginning and a new way of doing things. That’s why we’re evolving the stories we tell and how we tell them.
We’ve moved beyond the printed page so we can share more unexpected and candid perspectives more often.
